Dawn Etress, 1st Grade, Dawn Etress recently retired after teaching 29 years in the public school system. She is a graduate of Cottonwood High School and Troy University. She holds a Master’s degree in elementary education. She has been a member of Bethel Baptist Church for 35 years and states she is so excited to continue her passion for teaching at Bethel Christian Academy. She has two sons, Josh and Jody, two daughters in law, and two grandchildren.
Amanda Carter, 2nd grade, Amanda Carter is a graduate from Troy University, Dothan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Amanda has since then taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. She is married to Tommy Carter and has three girls. They attend Watermark Church. She is eager to begin teaching 2nd grade at Bethel Christian Academy and being a part of what God has ordained for this school year.
Amanda Ford, Upper School Biblical Studies and Girls PE, Mandi Ford lives in Dothan, Alabama with her husband Anthony and fur baby, Allie. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling from the Baptist College of Florida. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and looks forward to serving the Lord and students this fall.
Michele Holliman, 6th Grade, Michele Holliman is very excited to be joining Bethel Christian Academy as the 6th grade teacher. She is a long time resident of Dothan and a graduate of Dothan High School. She has been married to her husband, Robert, for 24 years and they have two children, Grace and Stephen. In 1994, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Associates in Computer Science and after taking several years off to start a family, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education K-8th, emphasis in Math. She is looking forward to joining the Bethel Christian Academy family and excited to see how God is going to work.
Terri Kelly, Upper School Language Arts and Latin, All Grades Art, Terri Kelly retired from the public school system in 2013 after teaching for 30 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Troy University in Elementary Education. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she enjoys singing in the choir and working with VBS. She looks forward to serving God as a teacher at Bethel Christian Academy.
Susan McClenney, 5th Grade, Susan McClenney is retired from public education after teaching for over 26 years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University in Elementary Education and has been married to her husband Joe for 43 years. They have 5 adult children and 5 grandchildren. Mrs. McClenney is excited to meet the students and begin her second year teaching at Bethel Christian Academy. She lives in Headland, Alabama and is attending Newville Baptist Church while her husband serves as the pianist.
Emily Pettis, 3rd and 4th Grade, Emily Pettis is excited to be a part of Bethel Christian Academy as the 3rd and 4th grade teacher. She is a Dothan native and a graduate of Dothan High and Troy University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She has previous experience teaching 2nd, 4th and 5th grades. She has been married for 14 years to her husband, Jeffrey and has two wonderful children. She and her family attend Bethel Baptist Church.
Susie Robbins, Receptionist, Lunch Manager. Susie Robbins retired as the Administrative Assistant to several of Houston County’s Probate Judges for over 23 years and other county offices for a total of 28 years with Houston County. She is excited to see the former students and looking forward to meeting the new students. Most of all she is looking forward to seeing what God has planned for Bethel Christian Academy in 2018-19!
Cassidi Roper, Kindergarten, Cassadi Roper is a 2014 graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences with a major in Early Childhood Development. She is married to Bradley and they have one daughter, Ellorie. They are members of Watermark Church in Ashford where Bradley serves on staff as the Worship Leader. She is excited and feels blessed to be teaching at Bethel Christian Academy and looks forward to seeing God work in the lives of the students and families.
Katie Skinner, K4, Katie Skinner is a graduate of Troy University Dothan with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has previous experience teaching K4 for the Troy/Kellogg grant program. She and her husband, Jarrod, have been married for 5 years and attend Church of the Crossing in Dothan where Jarrod serves on staff. She is excited to be teaching at Bethel Christian Academy and looks forward to having a great year!
Hope Taylor, Upper School Math, Hope Taylor is a life-long resident of Houston County and for 28 years she taught high school math in the public school system. She has a Master’s Degree from Troy University. She and her husband, Rollins, have two sons, two daughters in law and 1 grandson. She has been a member of Bethel Baptist Church for more than 40 years and serves as the church pianist and the ministry assistant to the Minister of Music.
Mitchell Vaughan, Upper School Geography, Logic, and PE, Mitchell Vaughan is a 2016 graduate of Pensacola Christian College with a Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministries with a Physical Education emphasis. While this is Mitchell’s first year teaching at Bethel Christian Academy, he has taught two previous years in Christian education at other schools in addition to serving as Athletic Director for the Wiregrass Kings. Mitchell lives in Headland with his wife Grace Ann, and son Everett and attends Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Newville.
Alyssa Wilson, Upper School Science, Alyssa Wilson has lived in Dothan since 2015 with her husband Daniel and their two girls, Maggie and McKenzie. She is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a double major in health education and athletic training. She has worked as a certified athletic trainer, mental health case manager and a public school teacher. She and her family are members of Bethel Baptist Church and are excited to be part of God’s work at Bethel Christian Academy.
